Meet the Coach: Moses Wolfe-Polgar
Helping athletes train smarter — not just harder — is the foundation of my coaching philosophy. Whether you're preparing for your first 5K, sprint triathlon, marathon, or Ironman, or pursuing championship-level performance, I believe every athlete deserves individualized coaching built on science, experience, and a genuine passion for helping people achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.
I'm a USAT Level II Certified Coach, F.I.S.T. Certified Bike Fitter, exercise physiologist, and endurance coach with over a decade of experience in performance testing, coaching, and athlete development. I work with beginner, intermediate, and elite runners and triathletes through personalized online coaching, while also providing in-person swim instruction for beginner and intermediate swimmers and road and triathlon bike fitting services.
My academic background is rooted in the science of human performance. I earned my bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis, with a minor in Exercise Physiology and an emphasis in muscle metabolism. As an undergraduate, I conducted skeletal muscle tissue research, developing a deep understanding for how training inputs drive specific adaptations. I later completed a master's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Michigan, where I further developed my expertise in exercise physiology, endurance performance, and evidence-based coaching.
Throughout my career, I've performed thousands of physiological assessments for athletes of all abilities, including VO₂ max testing, blood lactate testing, body composition analysis, resting metabolic rate testing, strength assessments, and performance evaluations. I enjoy helping athletes understand not only what to do in training, but why it works, using objective data to guide smarter decisions while recognizing that every athlete responds differently.
As an athlete, I've spent years competing across nearly every discipline of endurance sports. I've raced everything from draft-legal super sprint triathlons to full-distance Ironman events, competing at multiple collegiate national championships and earning Collegiate All-American honors. I've completed multiple Boston Marathons and continue to train and race because I believe the best coaches never stop learning from the athlete's perspective.
While I'm proud of my own racing accomplishments, I'm even more proud of what my athletes have achieved. Over the course of coaching more than 300 athletes, I've helped five athletes earn their first Boston Marathon qualifying time, guided four athletes to qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship, worked with three athletes to earn their professional triathlon cards, and coached a three-time collegiate triathlon national champion. I've also helped dozens of athletes successfully complete their first sprint triathlon, Olympic-distance triathlon, Half Ironman, Ironman, and marathon — proof that success isn't defined by pace or podiums, but by helping each athlete reach their personal potential.
My coaching philosophy combines sports science with practical experience. Training plans should fit your life, not the other way around. I believe in using data where it's valuable, adapting when life happens, communicating openly, and building long-term consistency instead of chasing short-term gains. Whether your goal is finishing your first race or competing at the highest level, my role is to provide the knowledge, structure, and support that help you become a stronger, healthier, and more confident athlete.
If you're looking for personalized triathlon coaching, running coaching, swim instruction, bike fitting, or performance testing grounded in exercise science and real-world experience, I'd love to help you take the next step in your athletic journey.

Athlete Testimonials
“I started working with Moses when I was looking to take my triathlon performance to the next level. Several years later, he has helped me achieve not only every triathlon goal I had set for myself, but also new and exciting running goals (including significant PRs in every distance from mile to marathon). His thoughtful, individualized coaching blends proven training principles with innovative approaches, allowing our work together to be adaptive and ever-evolving. I trust him completely and am incredibly grateful for everything we’ve accomplished — and continue to accomplish — together.”
Lindsey, Multi Time 70.3 World Championship and Boston Marathon Qualifier
“Working with Moses has been one of the best investments I’ve made in my fitness and triathlon journey. His depth of knowledge and personal experience across swimming, cycling, running, race strategy, training, fueling, and every aspect of triathlon is truly exceptional. Something that sets him apart even more to me has been his ability to understand my specific goals and create a personalized and adaptable approach to reach them. I highly recommend working with Moses in any aspect of these sports!”
Keith, First Time Triathlete to Ironman Finisher
“Moses is a great coach inside and outside of training. He always goes the extra mile to make sure all details are taken care of. Nutrition, recovery, logistics, race plans — he always has a wise insight to offer. Under him as the UCLA Tri coach, I went from being ranked outside the top 20 at collegiate nationals to winning 3 titles back to back to back. I also became a more mature athlete and a more supportive teammate.”
Edoardo, 3x USA Triathlon Collegiate National Champion
